About this course

This degree provides a highly motivating and stimulating environment with small classes and interactive discussions. Face-to-face lectures and seminars will cover theoretical concepts and frameworks, include current examples from business settings, and provide a platform for sharing your ideas and develop your problem-solving skills.

Under the general guidance of a supervisor, you will plan, develop, execute and report on a research project aimed at producing practical and theoretical outcomes and be of publishable standard.

Assessment tasks will be ongoing throughout the degree, and there will be a final examination of your thesis.

RMIT's Swanston Academic Building features wireless connection to printers, the web and specialist learning resources, interactive lecture and tutorial spaces, lectorial theatres, small-group rooms and other innovative learning spaces as well as retail and social spaces.

You will have access to online and digital resources such as lecture notes, assessment tools, discussion boards and podcasts through myRMIT. Educational software, the Learning Hub, resources and printers are accessible on campus via the RMIT wireless network using your own laptop, tablet or smart phone or via computer facilities on-campus. You will be able to access the same software from home using myDesktop.

The degree is structured in two parts: coursework and thesis.

The four compulsory courses provide the fundamentals skills for completing a high-quality thesis. You will learn contemporary research techniques relevant to business settings and develop capacity to conceptualise, research and contribute.

For the Honours thesis component you will address a significant issue or problem in business and will be required to demonstrate your ability to synthesise current knowledge in your chosen topic, design and execute a research study, and generate knowledge and practice outcomes under the guidance of an experienced academic.
