About this course

Play a key role in the design and implementation of government policy.

Nearly 2 million Australians are employed in the public service across federal, state and local government levels. While governments change, there will always be a need for highly-skilled public service officials to work in a range of policy and governance roles.

QUT Online's Graduate Certificate in Policy and Governance will open pathways into both policy development roles in government agencies, and policy analysis roles in political and non-government offices.

You will hone skills that allow you to undertake rigorous and critically informed analyses of government policies, allowing you to play a key role in the design and successful implementation of various policies. Similarly you will have the opportunity to reinforce your understanding of the relevant ethical obligations required of a public service official.

Public service roles are dynamic in nature and require public officials to possess a broad skill set. Working in areas of policy and governance, public officials need to develop a depth of knowledge that allows them to draft and analyse policies. A strong sense of ethics and practical knowledge of government services and procedures is also essential.
