The financial planning industry is in the midst of structural reform. Position yourself at the frontline of the financial planning with the Graduate Certificate in Business (Financial Planning), a course designed for existing advisers to meet the revised FASEA requirements.

For those currently working in the industry, and who are already a registered financial adviser on the ASIC Financial Advisers Register, it is an excellent opportunity to re-engage with your professional development and complete the following FASEA-approved units:

  • Financial planning principles and regulation*
  • Ethics and professional relationships*
  • Behavioural client management - financial planning capstone*
  • One elective unit (Business and corporations law; or Investments management).

*Bridging units

As part of QUT Business School's Triple Crown accreditation, the Graduate Certificate in Business (Financial Planning) is accredited with peak industry body the Financial Planning Education Council (part of Financial Planning Australia). As a student of this degree you will also be able to be affiliated with the FPA at no charge, gaining valuable access to career development activities and resources of the FPA.

Entry requirements

You can gain entry into the Graduate Certificate in Business (Financial Planning) with the following:

  • current registration as a financial adviser on the ASIC Financial Advisers register, plus a completed degree (or higher qualification) in any discipline; or
  • a completed diploma (or higher qualification) in any discipline and at least two years full-time (or equivalent) professional work experience; or
  • at least five years full-time (or equivalent) professional work experience.

This course is for existing financial advisers. It is not available to international students.
