Completion of the Murdoch University Graduate Diploma in Creative Arts Therapies OR Comparable programs from other institutions (e.g. Graduate Diploma in Creative Arts Therapies) may be eligible following assessment of previous course content by the Academic chair. Applicants from institutions other than Murdoch will also need to provide: Academic records - certificate of marks, Reference of suitability from previous institution, Provision of Unit guides for assessment of content and learning outcomes of nominated units. The selection process for all applicants includes a creative practice portfolio and interviews for shortlisted candidates. A maximum of 24 credit points of recognised prior learning may be granted to those applications who have completed equivalent coursework. If the recognised prior learning is equivalent to 12 credit points or less an amended offer for the Graduate Diploma in Creative Arts Therapies may be made. Applications will be assessed by the Academic Chair and suitable applicants will be offered an interview.

University level (AQF Level 7) qualification in Biological Sciences, Chemical Sciences, "Other Natural and Physical Sciences" or relevant Health related fields (Medical, Veterinary or Dental Studies, Nursing, Pharmacy or "Other Health"). Majors in Criminology will be considered if they contain units in a Biological or Chemical Science (i.e. Crime Science) at the discretion of the Academic Chair. Majors in Criminology or other non-cognate degrees that do not contain units in a Biological or Chemical Science cannot gain direct entry to the M1255 because they have not yet demonstrated scientific competency at tertiary level. These students can apply for consideration by the Academic Chair to enrol in the Graduate Certificate in Forensic Science (Professional Practice) (C1131) or Graduate Diploma in Forensic Science (Professional Practice) (G1085). Successfully completing 12 credit points in either of these courses will provide students with evidence of scientific competency required for subsequent admission to the M1255 Both C1131 and G1085 are nested programs within the M1255, thus students who successfully complete units within C1131 or G1085 will receive credit for those units if they transfer to M1255.

Entry Requirements

Students who complete the first year of the relevant Master of Applied Psychology and who average grades of Distinction in their core first year units may apply for transfer to the DPsych. Applicants for the DPsych are required to submit a synopsis of their intended research and the name of a supervisor on the staff of the University as part of their application. Applicants will be required to present their research plans to a panel of Psychology staff prior to admission. Students permitted to transfer from the Master of Applied Psychology will be exempt from the units common to both degrees. Applicants who hold the equivalent of the relevant Master of Applied Psychology can apply for entry and are to complete the balance of units in the DPsych. A maximum of 36 points of credit may be granted to those applicants who have completed equivalent coursework. In some circumstances, the degree may be undertaken on a part-time basis but requires attendance of on-campus seminars and, for parts of the course, full-day attendance on campus or at a practicum site.
