About this course

The role of the epidemiologist has never been more important. Being able to coordinate a defence against a disease outbreak - or even better, predict and prevent their occurrence - is crucial to keeping our community safe and healthy.

The Graduate Certificate of Epidemiology builds your knowledge of key epidemiological principles including biostatistics, health promotion and disease. This course will develop your practical epidemiological and data analysis skills, as well as the capacity to apply them in public health contexts. Alongside your core studies, you will have the opportunity to explore the epidemiology of communicable and non-communicable diseases, as well as public health challenges, clinical trials and research methods.

This choice of electives provides you with an insight into the big picture of health and where you might like to focus your career.

Monash experts continue to shape the state and national response to COVID-19. In the Graduate Certificate of Epidemiology, you'll learn from some of Australia's most prominent epidemiologists, biostatisticians, infectious disease specialists and public health experts.

This course is offered in a range of delivery options - so you can choose to join us on-campus in the vibrant Alfred Hospital precinct - or study online from wherever you are in the world.

Whether you're looking to complement your clinical knowledge, expand your skillset or explore a new career pathway, there's never been a better time to study epidemiology. Commonwealth Supported Places (CSP) are available for 2021.

A Graduate Certificate of Epidemiology could also lead you towards further study, with the opportunity to progress into the Master of Public Health.
