This program allows you to construct a course of study with a strong global and international focus, taught by distinguished academics and practitioners from Australia, USA and Europe. It aims to improve your legal research skills and prepare you to work in a global legal economy. The program will be of interest to those wishing to expand their knowledge and skills to gain a better understanding of the global legal market and the conceptions underpinning it. Options include advanced practical legal skills, special topics in advanced legal research and comparative law. Persons eligible to enrol in this program include:Subjects are usually delivered in block mode over five days during the winter and summer semesters. Some subjects may be offered during semesters 1 and 2. These subjects are recognised by other Australian Law Schools, and cross-institutional study is welcome. The Master of Laws is also designed to articulate into the Doctor of Juridical Science or PhD, in accordance with University policies and procedures. In practice this means that LML students wishing to proceed to doctoral studies must undertake the minor thesis option in their LML degree. This subject is offered in both semesters, and is the equivalent of two elective subjects. Applicants must have completed a law degree or its international equivalent and satisfy the minimum English language proficiency requirements, which is an IELTS (or equivalent) test result with a minimum overall band score of 6. 5 with no individual band score less than 6. 0.
