About this course

The Master of Commercial Law is open to graduates from any non-law discipline. Corporations increasingly require an understanding of commercial law issues in preparation for a career in an international business or a legal environment. This degree creates an opportunity for students without a legal background to gain a solid background in commercial law. Where a student has no background in law, completion of the subject, LAW5CLM with permission of the Program Coordinator will be a requirement. Students may study in subject areas of global interest, including International Business and Arbitration Law, and US Business and Corporations Law. All subjects will be taught in block mode with concentrations in summer and winter. Applicants must have completed a four year non-law undergraduate degree or international equivalent and satisfy the minimum English language proficiency requirements. That is, an IELTS (or equivalent) test result with a minimum overall band score of 6. 5 with no individual band score less than 6. 0. Note: English test results must be no more than two years old. The Masters program comprises 120 credit points which does not include the compulsory subject LTU0AIM a not-for-credit subject you are required to complete at the commencement of your first semester. The subject is designed to enhance your knowledge and awareness of issues concerning academic integrity. You must complete eight subjects from the Master of Laws in Global Business Law program. The subject  LAW5CLM Common Law and the Australian Legal System  is compulsory for students from a non-law background.
