The 18-month (three semesters) Master of Biotechnology is a unique course that provides individuals with the broad range of skills, encompassing both biotechnology and business-related expertise, required to flourish in the rapidly developing field of biotechnology. The course had a mixed biotechnology/business focus, with the incorporation of one semester of business and economics subjects. The aim of the course is to train students in the key elements of biotechnology and the manipulation of molecular biological data to qualify individuals to be able to work at the technical or administrative level in nascent biotechnology enterprises in Australia and overseas. Alternative pathways - Students may choose to transfer to the two-year (four semesters) Master of Biotechnology and Bioinformatics course if they prefer to focus on research, with the inclusion of a two-semester research program, allowing high-performing students to apply for Higher Degree by Research entry (PhD or MRes).
