The Master of Advanced Occupational Therapy provides graduate occupational therapists with flexible and accessible postgraduate study options through online coursework, or a combination of coursework and research, tailored to support their professional development. Gaining a Master of Advanced Occupational Therapy can support occupational therapists to become expert practitioners in their chosen field of practice, to advance their careers, to develop professional leadership, or contribute to academic teaching. The Master of Advanced Occupational Therapy program enables Occupational Therapists to extend their specialist knowledge and skills for work with children, adults or older adults in a range of practice contexts, and to deepen their understanding of human occupation, theoretical frameworks and sources of evidence used to inform occupational therapy practice. Students may also develop their research knowledge and skills by undertaking a supervised research project. The Master of Advanced Occupational Therapy creates opportunities for students to enrich their learning about contemporary issues, internationally within occupational therapy, rehabilitation and interprofessional health care contexts, by combining study in La Trobe University's health sciences courses with study in a partner program at the School of Rehabilitation Science, McMaster University in Canada. To study in the Master of Advanced Occupational Therapy program, students should apply to, and enrol to study through, La Trobe University in the first instance. Once enrolled in the Master of Advanced Occupational Therapy, students undertake subjects through La Trobe University and from the partner program at the School of Rehabilitation Science, McMaster University in Canada.
