This degree is being phased out. No new enrolments will be permitted from 2017. Prospective students may wish to consider the Bachelor of Paramedic Practice with HonoursIn first year, students undertake an interdisciplinary common year, focusing on basic human biosciences and factors influencing health, and will develop an understanding of the roles of health professionals in the health and welfare sectors. The second year will focus on a range of health sciences subjects including advanced communication skills, community health promotion, introduction to paramedic practice, and law and management in the health sector. The final two years will see students further develop and refine skills specific to paramedicine and public health promotion.   Students will undertake professional placements in a number of fields including community-based and rural health, and Ambulance Victoria. The number of placement shifts available to students may vary dependent on placement type and availability. Please note that the first year of the course at Albury-Wodonga, Mildura and Shepparton will be conducted at those respective campuses but students will complete the second, third and fourth years at Bendigo Campus. The majority of clinical placement shifts will occur within the scheduled semester dates, however, students who do not receive the targeted number of clinical placement shifts within the semester may be required to undertake clinical placement during the summer semester of the following year.
