About this course

This four year Law course provides an accredited professional qualification in Law, but also requires students to complete subjects in another non-law discipline of choice such as Science, Politics, Media and Communication Studies or Commerce, without having to complete a separate degree in that discipline. The program offers an innovative, high quality legal education with a social justice perspective and a real emphasis on hands-on experiences. It includes all the compulsory law subjects required by the Victorian Legal Admissions Board for admission to the legal profession as an Australian lawyer in Victoria and a wide range of law electives, many with a practical skills component, such as advocacy and negotiation. There are also a number of Clinical Legal Education subjects on offer. This program is designed for school leavers and tertiary students who have not yet completed an undergraduate degree. Students may apply to transfer into a five-year combined degree, should they wish to complete a second degree such as a Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Science. Students wishing to study undergraduate entry law at the Bendigo campus should see the Handbook entry for Bachelor of Laws (Undergraduate Entry) (Bendigo). The three Essentials - Global Citizenship, Innovation and Entrepreneurship and Sustainability Thinking - are specialist areas designed to give you an edge with employers. They will enable you to adapt your knowledge and skills to new contexts in a rapidly changing world. Subjects addressing the Essentials are part of all undergraduate La Trobe degrees and can be identified in the subject database by distinct icons.   The list of approved subjects is also on the Essentials webpage. Students admitted to the undergraduate degree of Bachelor of Laws must:
