Griffith University Courses

To be eligible for admission to the Graduate Certificate in Design, applicants must:

• hold a non-related bachelor degree from a recognised University (or another tertiary education institution of equivalent standing)
• OR have completed a minimum of four years industrial experience with the Design industry.

Note: Degrees from overseas institutions must be assessed as equivalent to a recognised Australian qualification.

To be eligible for admission to the Master of Design, applicants must:

• hold a Bachelor degree in non-related discipline from a recognised tertiary institution
• OR hold a Bachelor degree or a Graduate Certificate (or higher) in a related discipline from a recognised tertiary institution - these students will be eligible for 40 credit points of advanced standing
• OR hold a Graduate Diploma of Design or a Bachelor Honours degree in a related discipline from a recognised tertiary institution - these students will be eligible for 80 credit points of advanced standing
• OR have a combination of alternative admission criteria such as formal, informal and non-formal learning deemed to be equivalent to either of the above - these students may be eligible for 10 to 80 credit points of advanced standing
• AND provide a brief personal statement of 2-3 paragraphs outlining:
  1. Why you want to study a Master of Design and
  2. A description of the research and/or practical projects that you would like to undertake during the study with reference to the courses and topics in the program that attract your interest.

To be eligible for admission to the Graduate Certificate in International Tourism and Hospitality Management, a student must:

• hold any Bachelor degree (or equivalent) from a recognised University (or another tertiary education institution of equivalent standing) with a minimum GPA of 4.0 (using a 7.0 point scale) OR
• have a minimum of five years equivalent full-time professional work experience in a relevant field.

To be eligible for admission to the Master of International Business/Master International Relations, a student must hold:

• a related Bachelor degree (or equivalent) from a recognised University (or another tertiary education institution of equivalent standing) with a minimum GPA of 4.0 (using a 7.0 scale), OR
• a related Graduate Certificate (or equivalent) from a recognised University (or another tertiary institution of equivalent standing) with a minimum GPA of 4.0 (using a 7.0 scale).

To be eligible for admission to the Master of Financial Technology, a student must:

• hold any Bachelor degree (or higher) from a recognised University (or another tertiary education institution of equivalent standing) with a minimum GPA of 4.0 (using a 7.0 scale) OR
• hold a Bachelor degree in Finance and/or Information Technology (or equivalent) from a recognised University (or another tertiary education institution of equivalent standing) with a minimum GPA of 4.0 (using a 7.0 scale) - students will receive 40 credit points of advanced standing OR
• hold any Bachelor degree from a recognised University (or another tertiary education institution of equivalent standing) with a minimum GPA of 4.0 AND have successfully passed the Level I examination for the Chartered Financial Analyst Program administered by the CFA Institute - students will receive 40 credit points of advanced standing.

To be eligible for admission to the Graduate Certificate in Visual Arts, applicants must:

• hold a Bachelor degree in any discipline from a recognised University
• OR, have a minimum of five years experience in the Visual Arts industry

To be eligible for admission to the Master of International Law, applicants must have:

• a Bachelor degree or higher from a recognised University (or another tertiary education institution of equivalent standing) with a minimum GPA of 4.0 (using a 7.0 scale);
• OR a Bachelor of Law (Honours) from a recognised tertiary institution - these students will be eligible for 40 credit points of advanced standing;
• OR a Graduate Certificate in International Law (or an equivalent qualification) with a minimum GPA of 4.0 (using a 7.0 scale) - students with a Graduate Certificate in International Law (or an equivalent qualification) may be eligible to receive 40 credit points of advanced standing.

To be eligible for admission to the Graduate Diploma of Financial Crime Investigations and Compliance, an applicant must:

• hold any Bachelor degree (or higher) from a recognised University (or another tertiary education institution of equivalent standing) with a minimum GPA of 4.0 (using a 7.0 scale) OR
• hold a Griffith Graduate Certificate in Financial Crime Investigations and Compliance with a minimum GPA of 4.0 (using a 7.0 scale). Students with a Griffith Graduate Certificate in Financial Crime Investigations and Compliance will receive 40 credit points of advanced standing, OR
• have a minimum of five years equivalent full-time professional work experience in a relevant field, OR
• have a combination of alternative admission criteria such as formal, informal and non-formal learning deemed to be equivalent to either of the above.

Commonwealth Bank of Australia cohort

Students wishing to complete this program under the Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA) corporate education scheme are required to complete a consent form providing Griffith University with permission to share their student information with the employer, CBA, in relation to the program.

To be eligible for admission to the Master of International Law Studies, applicants must have:

• a Bachelor degree or higher from a recognised University (or another tertiary education institution of equivalent standing) with a minimum GPA of 4.0 (using a 7.0 scale)
• OR a Bachelor of Law (Honours) from a recognised tertiary institution - these students will be eligible for 40 credit points of advanced standing
• OR a Graduate Certificate in International Law (or an equivalent qualification) with a minimum GPA of 4.0 (using a 7.0 scale) - students with a Graduate Certificate in International Law (or an equivalent qualification) may be eligible to receive 40 credit points of advanced standing.

The postgraduate psychology programs are highly competitive and there are many more applicants than places available. Therefore, at Griffith there is a highly structured application process. Admission to the Master of Professional Psychology is restricted to students who are eligible for provisional registration with the Psychology Board of Australia. The application process involves three stages.

Stage 1: The application

All applicants are required to demonstrate their capability for training in psychology as follows:

• Academic Achievement/Intellectual Ability: Applicants must have completed a program in Psychology extending over four years and accredited by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) or equivalent as determined by the Australian Psychological Society. The Grade Point Average (GPA) in the undergraduate degree, fourth year and relevant courses will be taken into account. A minimum of an Honours Second Class Division B (or equivalent) is required.
• Interpersonal and Counselling Capability: Given the interpersonal sensitivity and awareness required for effective psychological practice, successful applicants will be expected to demonstrate a high level of interpersonal skills. Furthermore, in order for the program to build on a reasonably advanced applied skill baseline, successful applicants will be expected to demonstrate at least a basic level of competence in the counselling context, evidence of warmth and empathic responding and an openness to a range of approaches. This may be demonstrated by evidence of previous counselling training and relevant volunteer or work experience.
• Support from Referees: Two referee reports are required - one from an academic who knows your work well and a second from a professional referee who can attest to your interpersonal and counselling capabilities. See below for the Australian Psychology Postgraduate Program Reference Request System process.

Stage 2: The interview

Please note that, given the competitive nature of this program, only those applicants who have been evaluated by a panel of the clinical team as having demonstrated their suitability for training in psychology (according to the above criteria and ranked sufficiently high enough relative to others) will be shortlisted for interview.
The interview itself consists of a multi-station assessment process. Applicants are required to attend a face-to-face session that takes around half a day to complete. Applicants will be required to demonstrate sound interpersonal and emotion management skills as they respond to the various tasks at each station. Tasks include, for example, responding to an ethical dilemma, roleplaying an interview, roleplaying a supervision session, discussing research, responding to questions relating to their own reasons for applying for training in psychology and a written task.
Applicants are assessed by a panel of program staff who are registered psychologists in the multi-station interview process. Applicants will be ranked according to their performance at each station and those ranked highly enough will be offered a place in the program.

Stage 3: The offer

First round offers will be made by mid-November to applicants who are ranked at a sufficiently high level. A waitlist of applicants will be retained as second and third round offers may be made as late as January. Unsuccessful applicants will be advised as soon as is practically possible.

Note: Applicants are not permitted to defer an offer. Should you be unable to accept an offer, you must re-apply for entry in the following intake.

To be eligible for admission to the Master of Urban and Environmental Planning, a student must:

• hold a Bachelor degree from a recognised University (or another tertiary education institution of equivalent standing) with a minimum GPA of 4.5. Planning related Bachelor degrees will be assessed by the Program Director to determine whether the degree is appropriate for admission. Students with a Planning related Bachelor degree may be eligible for up to 40 credit points of credit.
• OR hold a Griffith Graduate Certificate in Urban and Environmental Planning with a minimum GPA of 4.5. These students will be eligible for 40 credit points of advanced standing.

To be eligible for admission to the Graduate Certificate in Clinical Leadership, a student should:

• hold a Bachelor degree in a health-related field (Public Health, Health Services Management, Allied Health, Environmental Health, Dentistry, Medicine, Midwifery, Nursing) OR
• have a minimum of five years equivalent full-time experience as a health professional in a leadership position within a health care organisation (students are expected have career goals to work in health-related organisations).
