Round 1 opens on 1 January and closes on 5 February for awards commencing in semester one of the same year.
Round 2 opens on 6 April and closes on 27 May for awards commencing in semester two of the same year.
DESCRIPTION
There is currently one Thesis Write-up stipend available in of the above rounds. The successful awardee is selected by the Scholarships Committee in a competitive process.
The purpose of the Thesis Write-Up Stipend is to assist non-scholarship holder research higher degree students to write-up and submit their theses.
BENEFITS
The thesis write-up stipend will normally pay the equivalent of a Flinders University Research Scholarship for: six months full-time in the case of PhD and MD students; or three months full-time in the case of Masters students.
ELIGIBILITY
Awards will normally only be available to those who: (a) are Australian citizens or have been granted permanent resident status; and (b) are enrolled in a research higher degree at Flinders University in the third or fourth year full-time equivalent of a Doctorate by research or in the second year full-time equivalent of a Masters degree by research with a 72 unit thesis component; and (c) are able to demonstrate readiness to write-up his/her thesis; and (d) have the unqualified support of his/her principal supervisor that he/she is ready to write his/her thesis. A Thesis Write-Up Stipend will not be awarded to a student who has previously held a scholarship to undertake the current degree.
Selection of award holders will be undertaken by the Scholarships Committee on the basis of the following criteria: maturity of the applicant's research (degree to which the thesis is prepared in draft, publications, conference papers presented, etc); the supervisor's appraisal of the quality of the thesis draft; and availability of other sources of support.
