Masters (Coursework)
The Master of Teaching (Special Education) is a pre-service teacher education postgraduate course that builds on prior learning and develops advanced professional knowledge, practice and relationship skills relevant to teaching. The Junior Primary/Primary stream is designed for those who wish to teach students in regular classroom settings as well as students with special education needs in primary or special settings. It combines studies in junior primary/primary education with studies in special education. The Secondary stream is designed for those who wish to teach students in regular classroom settings as well as students with special education needs in secondary or special settings. It combines studies in secondary education with studies in special education. Included in both streams are curriculum studies, special education studies and placements in schools, including teaching practicum. We aim to educate students who appreciate the complex nature of a teacher's work and practice in ways that promote a socially just, democratic and ecologically sustainable world. Professional Recognition/Membership Successful completion of this program provides a recognised academic qualification which will enable graduates to apply for teacher registration in South Australia and some overseas countries.
