Masters (Coursework)
The Master of Education Studies builds on your strengths and experience in organisations where educational practices play a key role. You will engage in contemporary debates and explore developments in your areas of interest so you are prepared to lead educational practice, policy and research in a range of educational contexts. You can choose to complete the course via coursework or a combination of coursework and research. In the coursework pathway you choose from a range of subjects relevant to your background and goals, including but not limited to subjects that subjects that explore teaching and learning in local and global contexts, digital learning and teaching, the purpose of education, feedback, assessment and reporting. You will have the opportunity to explore topics of interest to you in directed reading projects. You have the choice to complete the master's degree with a professional inquiry capstone project or a research pathway combining coursework with a minor thesis.
* Please note students wishing to complete the research pathway will need to gain a Distinction average in the two research courses in order to continue on with the minor thesis.
Successful completion of the course enhances professional standing in the education fields. The course is recognised as a valuable contribution to the on-going professional development of educators in a wide range of sectors, including in Primary, Secondary, Tertiary and VET contexts. Successful completion of the research pathway, including a high level of achievement in the minor thesis, provides a pathway to PhD study.
