This major will focus on a range of theoretical and professional aspects of architecture and urban environments. You will be introduced to architectural practice, ethics and codes of conduct, and will explore a nominated research topic in preparation for a capstone research project.
The project will develop methods of communication and design skills specific to your selected stream:
Architecture Culture stream: Explore the theoretical foundations related to urban culture and architectural identity.
Architectural Technology stream: Explore the scientific and technological concepts that contribute to the development of sustainable architectural design.
If you have an undergraduate degree in architecture or similar, and are interested in sustainable planning, urban design and project development, you are encouraged to select the Architecture Major. This will enable you to develop skills and knowledge in the areas of urban design, sustainable building design and technologies and community project development.
The Architecture major is offered as part of the Master of Sustainability and the Built Environment, a multi-disciplinary course which will develop strong theoretical understanding and inter-professional skills.
If you complete the master degree to a high standard, you may be eligible to proceed onto doctoral-level studies.
