This major is designed for graduates working or seeking to work in a field that requires specialised knowledge in accounting. This course enhances knowledge and skills in accounting and related aspects of financial management and business law, in order to equip students for a career in professional accounting and related fields in Australia and internationally. The course comprises 16 units which must be completed in two stages. On successful completion of the first eight units, you can progress to the CPA Australia Extension stream and concurrently enrol in the professional level of the CPA Program with CPA Australia, or enrol into the Accounting Foundation Stream: The CPA Australia Extension Stream allows you to obtain a master-level qualification from Curtin and receive academic support while you prepare for the CPA Program’s external examinations. The course is suitable if you have graduated with an Australian bachelor degree or equivalent from a field other than accounting, and wish to pursue a career in professional accounting, or progress to senior or management roles. The Accounting Foundation Stream is suitable if you have graduated with an Australian bachelor degree or equivalent from a field other than accounting and wish to pursue a career in professional accounting or progress to senior or management roles. This course is designed to provide you with a comprehensive understanding of accounting, including the professional knowledge and standards required for industry membership and advancement.
