In this course you'll be encouraged to engage in critical thinking, self-discovery, self direction and life long learning. Through a combination of theoretical and practical learning, you'll learn to apply evidence based knowledge and skills in midwifery to provide safe care to both the mother and her baby. You will study legislation and common law affecting midwifery practice and be prepared to demonstrate the National Competency Standards for the Midwife.
To complement theoretical learning, you’ll complete clinical practice in a maternity setting under the supervision of an experienced midwife. This clinical practice will be completed in an approved maternity setting.
