About this scholarship

Overview

The National Security College may award two partial tuition scholarships to domestic students, and one full tuition scholarship to an international student, known as The ANU National Security Policy Scholarship. The Scholarships are available for eligible students who receive an offer of admission to a Master of National Security Policy or Master of National Security Policy (Advanced), and are seeking admission for the first time. The awards are competitive, and are based on academic merit

Eligibility

The award is available each year to a prospective ANU student who has received an offer of admission from the College and is:

  • a domestic or international student;
  • enrolling in the Master of National Security Policy or the Master of National Security Policy (Advanced) degree program;
  • The Scholarship shall be awarded in three (3) divisions:
    • Division 1: Employees of the Australian Public Service, or State and Territory equivalents
    • Division 2: Other Domestic students
    • Division 3: International students

Selection

The Scholarship shall be awarded to an applicant who:

  • For Division 1: is an employee of the Australian Public Service or a State/Territory and has completed a Bachelor degree or international equivalent in a cognate discipline with a minimum of Distinction average or above.
  • For Division 2: is an Australian citizen, a New Zealand Citizen or an Australian Permanent Resident and has completed a Bachelor degree or international equivalent in a cognate discipline with a minimum of Distinction average or above.
  • For Division 3: is an international student and has completed a Bachelor degree with Honours or international equivalent in a cognate discipline with a minimum of Distinction average or above and meets the ANU English language requirements. 

Benefits

International recipients of this scholarship will receive a 100% tuition fee scholarship and Domestic recipients will receive a 50% tuition fee scholarship, upon enrolment into the program.

How to apply

As well as applying for admission to the Master of National Security Policy or Master of National Security Policy (Advanced), applicants must provide:

  • A statement of aims of no more than 500 words to support their application;
  • A current curriculum vitae of no more than 3 pages;
  • Two academic academic written references using the 'Referee form' supplied

All supporting documentation must be forwarded via email to national.security.college@anu.edu.au prior to the closing date

Application Dates

  • Domestic Applicants
    • Semester 1 1 July - 15 January
    • Semester 2:  1 March - 30 June 
  • International Applicants
    • Semester 1: 1 July - 15 December
    • Semester 2: 1 Feb - 30 May

*The Scholarship will normally be offered in first semester; however, if not taken up, the College may offer a Scholarship in the second semester of that year.
