About this scholarship

The ANU College of Asia and the Pacific and Crawford School of Public Policy offer future and current Indigenous postgraduate students to apply for the Garrurru Postgraduate Indigenous Scholarship. Scholarship recipients receive a fee-waiver scholarship for a maximum of 96 units of courses undertaken in a postgraduate program in the ANU College of Asia and the Pacific — the equivalent of an entire master’s degree.

Value

Scholarship recipients receive a fee-waiver scholarship for a maximum of 96 units of courses undertaken in a postgraduate program in the ANU College of Asia and the Pacific—the equivalent of an entire master’s degree.

Duration

Whilst there is a cap on the number of coursework units covered by the scholarship (96 units), the scholarship has no time limit.

Recipients will, however, be subject to the maximum period for completion of a degree program as stipulated by the ANU Policy regarding student academic study load and progression. Visit the ANU Policy Library for more details.

Eligibility

All future and current students of ANU, who identify as being of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent, can demonstrate excellent academic merit, and enrol in part time or full time study in any postgraduate course offered by the ANU College of Asia and the Pacific are eligible to apply.

Selection basis

Selection will be based upon 

  • The extent to which an applicant’s personal statement demonstrates the personal and professional benefits of their program of study;
  • Personal circumstances (as outlined in the personal statement);
  • Previous academic performance and/or relevant prior learning;
  • The strength of the referee letter/s

Applications open on 27 October 2018 and close 14 January 2019

Incomplete applications will not be considered.

Successful applicants will be contacted using their email address nominated in the online application form provided and will need to return a signed Letter of Offer and Conditions of Award.
