The Master of Professional Accounting (Professional Practice) at Charles Sturt University is designed to provide students with advanced knowledge and skills in accounting, auditing, taxation, management accounting, and financial reporting. The program includes structured work-integrated learning activities and placement opportunities, preparing graduates for diverse career possibilities in business, government, and non-profit organizations.
Applicants are required to have an undergraduate degree from a recognised Australian tertiary institution (or equivalent). The undergraduate degree must be in a field other than Accounting, or not recognised by the Australian Accounting professional bodies for associate membership.
Applicants without a tertiary qualification may be admitted to the Graduate Diploma of Accounting on the basis of professional attainment and/or work experience. Upon successful completion of the Graduate Diploma students will then be eligible for admission to the Master of Professional Accounting and receive credit for applicable subjects.
Standard English Language Proficiency (ELP) requirements apply. Click here to view the specific international course entry requirements.
For each 8-point subject you are enrolled in, you should expect to spend 10 to 12 hours per week working on assignments and assigned readings, tutorial assistance, individual or group research/study, forum activity, workplace learning, and attending lectures, intensive schools, or examinations. If you are studying four subjects per session, this is equivalent to a full-time job. The workload for some subjects may vary as a result of approved course design.
You may need to attend an online or on-campus intensive school for certain subjects in this course. These schools usually involve lectures, tutorials and practicals that will give you a deeper understanding of your subject.
The course consists of 15 core subjects including 3 work integrated learning and placement subjects. Students enrolled at Charles Sturt University Sydney and Charles Sturt University Melbourne will complete structured work integrated learning activities as part of their program of study. The opportunity to undertake work placement may be available for students contingent on satisfactory progression and grades.
