About this course

This course provides an opportunity to deepen and broaden your knowledge of caring for children and families, in a variety of health care and community environments. Throughout the course, you will continue to strengthen your understanding of growth monitoring and developmental assessments, the importance of psychosocial assessment and the central role of parents in the child's environment. You will also learn how to promote and maintain connections with other services as you prepare to work in partnership with families in a strengths-based model as opposed to the traditional problem-oriented models. This course prepares you to practise as a professional child and family health clinician who is: sensitive to the cultural needs of consumers in urban, rural and remote environments reflective practitioner, skilled in consuming and conducting research and evidence-based enquiries. You will build on professional experiences and reflect and critique knowledge, skills and attitudes about evidence, research and literature and apply this to a practical setting.
