About this course

The Graduate Certificate in Crime Scene Investigation provides students with the discipline expertise and ability to conduct research in forensic crime scene investigations. It covers the skills and knowledge to coordinate a major or complex investigation involving multi-discipline forensic personnel and to perform a detailed crime scene investigation of serious incidents. Students will develop expert skills and techniques to conduct, record and report on advanced crime scene investigations of complex incidents.
This is a restricted Police qualification; students must be employed by an Australian Police Service to enrol.

Entry requirements

Students must be able to demonstrate relevant Forensic Science knowledge and skills and capability to undertake vocational education and training at the graduate certificate Level by the following:

  • Demonstrate successful completion of the Advanced Diploma of Forensic Investigation or equivalent
  • OR
  • Demonstrate successful completion of a Doctorate, Masters, Graduate Diploma, Graduate Certificate, Degree or Associate degree in Forensic Science
  • OR
  • Demonstrate successful completion of a Doctorate, Masters, Graduate Diploma, Graduate Certificate, Degree or Associate degree in Science and be able to demonstrate at least 3 - 4 years industry experience in Forensics.
