About this course

This Graduate Certificate will introduce students to foundational programming, mathematical and statistical concepts which can be applied to large data sets to derive information to make high-level, data-driven decisions. The second term of this course includes a particular focus on marketing and social media applications of data analytic tools. The flexibility and insights offered by a data analytics skillset can be used for data driven change and problem solving across many business sectors.

Key learning outcomes include:

  • Theoretical and technical knowledge of data analytic methods and tools.
  • Analytical methods for extracting information and making decisions in a data-rich environment.
  • The use of computer programming languages to generate data analytic algorithms.
  • Understanding of the ethical, economic and social implications of data acquisition and use.

Entry requirements

  • An Australian bachelor's degree (or equivalent qualification, including an overseas qualification);
  • Completion of IMC Postgraduate Preparation Program; or
  • Completion of a three-year post-secondary qualification, with an average pass mark of 70%, in a relevant discipline; or
  • Three years' relevant work experience.
