Graduate Certificate
The Graduate Certificate in Teaching is for students wishing to build toward a challenging and rewarding career as an early childhood or primary teacher. You will be able to develop the skills and knowledge to start your journey towards empowering young people through inclusive learning practices and make a positive difference in their lives. Research-based learning and reflective practice underpin the four units offered in this course to provide you with the ability to develop a critical approach to teaching and learning and understand how to link theory with practice in different learning environments. You will explore how physical, psychological and social factors impact learning; effective teaching practices and strategies; how to foster positive behaviour practices and diversity and inclusive frameworks for diverse learning needs of individuals. If you are looking to pursue a career as an accredited teacher, you may be eligible to apply for the Master of Teaching (Early Childhood and Primary) or the Master of Teaching (Primary) and obtain credit for units successfully completed within the Graduate Certificate in Teaching. You may also choose to concurrently complete the Graduate Certificate in Religious Education with the Master's course to gain accreditation to teach religious education in Catholic schools.
