CHC53315 Diploma of Mental Health course will enable you to provide services to people with coexisting mental health dependencies and work with clients in the specialised area of domestic and family violence. Throughout your studies you will learn the importance on providing community focused mental health programs and prevention strategies while working within the frameworks of trauma-informed care.

Entry requirements

Prospective students are able to enrol into the CHC53315 Diploma of Mental Health course if they are 18 years or over and meet one of the following entry requirements:

Completed Year 12 or Equivalent or a Certificate IV or higher

 

sufficient life experience (work or study) can be considered

YOUR LANGUAGE LITERACY AND NUMERACY (LLN) SKILLS MUST MEET THE REQUIRED STANDARDS FOR ACSF LEVEL 3 OR HIGHER.

Community Rehabilitation and Support Worker

The Community Rehabilitation and Support Worker plays an integral role in the delivery of services mental health services across the local community. This role is responsible for mental health intakes, assessment and triage of the required services for individuals who are experiencing mental health issues and who are seeking support.

Case Manager

Case Managers are responsible for assisting clients to solve complex issues with the aim of enhancing their clients' quality of life. This role requires the overseeing and coordinating of the long term treatment needs that addresses the specific and personalised needs of a client.

Mental Health Support Worker

Mental Health Support Workers work with people who are living with mental illness, their families, carers and friends. This involves day-to-day support to help clients meet their individual goals, assisting them to navigate other health services and monitoring their progress. Mental Health Support Workers may work with groups and conduct outreach assistance that enables management of daily activities and connection with the local community. You will provide
consistent and motivational support enabling
positive and forward looking outcomes for your clients.

The unit CHCMHS010 requires a total of 160 hours of integrated work-based assessment. This practical assessment component is integrated into the units, CHCMHS002, CHCMHS003, and CHCMHS004, collectively requiring a total of 240 hours.
