    To become a registered psychologist in Australia, the completion of a four-year psychology program is required; plus the completion of a professional masters, doctorate or PhD program in psychology, or two years' supervised practice as a psychologist. Postgraduate professional qualifications are a distinct advantage when competing for professional jobs as a psychologist.

    Psychology can also be studied through the Bachelor of Arts or the Bachelor of Science. These programs, with an additional honours year, both meet the undergraduate requirements for professional registration when combined with the completion of professional masters level or higher qualification in psychology or two years supervised experience as a psychologist.

    There are three different streams of the Master of Applied Linguistics. The stream you apply for will depend on the depth of your prior academic and/or professional experience, and how closely it relates to linguistics.

    You may be eligible to have your study recognised via Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). If your work experience or prior study is recognised, credit points can be counted towards the degree, and you would then be able to complete the coursework undertaking fewer subjects.

    • Bachelor of Social Science from the University (or equivalent); and
    • have gained a grade point average (GPA) of 5.0 on a 7-point scale from an approved combination of courses comprising:
    • all Level 2 and Level 3 BSocSc Core Courses and 6 units of Level 2 and Level 3 courses from the chosen BSocSc Major; or

    • satisfy the executive dean that the person is qualified to undertake the program based on the person's academic records and subject to completion of additional work, if set.

    A person who completed their bachelor's more than two years prior to program commencement must obtain approval from the executive dean to enrol.
