The Master of Research is part of a combined set of programs that offer students a pathway into a higher degree by research from an undergraduate degree.
In response to COVID-19, the University of Sydney has reviewed the availability of courses to be delivered remotely for students commencing their studies in Semester 1, 2021. Students commencing this course in Semester 1, 2021 are required to commence their studies in-person on campus.
The Graduate Certificate in Professional Practice is a Bespoke course which gives you the freedom to choose from more than 500 units across the full breadth of university subject areas, and assemble them into your own unique course.
Entry Requirements
A candidate shall:
(a) hold an AQF Level 7 Bachelor degree, or above in any discipline; or
(b) satisfy the School by means of other relevant qualifications and workplace experience, at least equivalent to admission rule (a), of adequate preparation for candidature.
The Master of Engineering Science provides the opportunity to acquire high-level understanding and advanced analytical skills in areas that span the engineering disciplines as well as project management incorporating those disciplines.
In this course you'll learn the principles and applications of geographic information systems and remote sensing, focusing on their application in areas such as agriculture, defence, mining and urban planning. This course requires no prior knowledge in the field.
This course delivers cutting edge theoretical and practical knowledge for production, postharvest and supply chain of horticultural produce. It also focuses on the management, supply chain and sustainability issues surrounding the way horticultural produce is gathered, stored, and utilised.

The following course-specific admission requirements are mandatory and must be satisfied by all applicants. These requirements are in addition to or supersede the minimum requirements outlined within the Academic admission requirements band section below.
Special entry may be considered for students with a cognate first degree (or with appropriate experience) who can apply for a reduced course duration:
1.5 years full time (3 years part time) - 180 credit points
Admission is based on: Bachelor degree in a related discipline*, or Bachelor degree in any discipline, plus five years relevant work experience^, or Graduate Certificate in a related discipline*, or Evidence of academic capability judged to be equivalent.
*Related discipline refers to any horticulture/agriculture/biology related discipline ^Relevant work experience constitutes Senior/Managerial positions to be approved by the Course Coordinator.
Academic admission requirements (Band 6) may be satisfied through completion of one of the following:
Bachelor degree; or
Equivalent prior learning including at least five years relevant professional experience.
English competency requirements may be satisfied through completion of one of the following:
IELTS Academic Overall band minimum score of 6.5 (no individual band less than 6.0);
Bachelor degree from a country specified on the English Proficiency Bands page;
Successfully completed 0.375 EFTSL of study at postgraduate level or higher at an Australian higher education provider (or equivalent);
Where accepted, equivalent prior learning, including at least five years relevant professional experience; or
Other tests, courses or programs defined on the English Proficiency Bands page.

Entry Requirements
To qualify for admission to the Graduate Diploma in Science, you must:
have qualified for or be a graduate with a Bachelor degree from the University of Sydney or equivalent qualification from another tertiary institution;
have completed a relevant science major (i.e. minimum of 24 credit points of 3000-level units of study) relating to the intended project discipline;
satisfy any additional criteria set by the relevant Head of School or Discipline.
