The Master of Music Studies is offered by the Conservatorium of Music at Hobart. It can be completed in a minimum of three semesters (one calendar year) full-time or a maximum of three years part-time.

Course structure

These course rules and specifications apply to students commencing the course from 2014. For students who commenced prior to 2014, the applicable course rules are those from the year of commencement. i.e. students who commenced in 2012 should refer to the 2012 page.

Students choose one of four streams, either Performance, Composition, Orchestral Studies or Musicology, and complete a total of 150% of units for the Master of Music Studies comprising two compulsory core units (50%), four electives (50%) and a further 50% of units according to the schedule for the selected stream. NB: Students intending to apply for the PhD program must complete the 50% Major Research Project unit.
