The business world has dramatically changed since the Covid-19 pandemic began. Due to our growing reliance on technology to stay connected, an increase in industry automation, and rapid advancements in digital infrastructure, companies all around the world are being forced to either transform the way they operate or risk falling behind their competitors.

The Master of Business Administration (International) is your opportunity to develop a suite of professional capabilities that will prepare you for the latest industry changes and challenges. You'll investigate how the pandemic has accelerated a drastic change for the way managers interact and operate within with their team. Where managers may have previously operated as solo-decision makers or 'hero leaders', you'll learn new skills to meet the world-wide industry demands for more inclusive, compassionate, capable and collaborative leaders.

Entry requirements

Not open for domestic entry.

For entry into the MBA (International), students must meet the following criteria:

  • Completed undergraduate degree of an Australian higher education institution or the equivalent standard in any other institution; or
  • Completion of the Graduate Certificate of Business Studies at the University of Tasmania, or an equivalent qualifying Graduate Certificate#; or
  • Completion of an AQF Level 6 qualification and a minimum of three (3) years senior managerial experience.

#a qualifying Graduate Certificate is any Graduate Certificate from an Australian higher education institution, or the equivalent from any other institution.

International students must also provide one of the following:

  • UTASAccess Level 7 with a minimum overall score of 65% and no individual skill below 60%; or
  • an IELTS score with an overall Band of 6.5 and no band less than 6; or
  • a TOEFL (iBT) overall score of 88 (no individual skill must be lower than: Reading 16; Listening 16; Speaking 18; and, Writing 22) or
  • a PTE Academic overall score of 58 with no score lower than 50, or
  • provide evidence that you have studied for 2 years full-time with English as the sole medium of instruction and examination.

These tests must not be more than 24 months old.

    Course structure

    To graduate from the Master of Business Administration (International), a student must complete 200 credit points of study comprising:

    • 150 credit points of core units; and
    • 50 credit points from one of the available streams.

    Credit for prior study or work

    Students who have completed the 35A1/35A2 Graduate Certificate in Business Studies may enter this course with full credit for completed units, subject to the rules and structure of this degree and choice of specialisation stream.
