Entry requirements

No direct entry into the Graduate Certificate, it is an exit-award only. Entry requirements are the same as the MBA course

For entry into the MBA students must meet the following criteria:

  • Minimum of three (3) years managerial experience

and

  • Completion of an undergraduate AQF level 7 degree in an Australian higher education institution or the equivalent standard in any other institution; or
  • Completion of the Graduate Certificate of Business Studies at the University of Tasmania, or
  • Completion of an AQF Level 6 Advanced Diploma or Associate Degree qualification and a minimum of three (3) years managerial experience.

Students who intend to study the Executive MBA pathway must demonstrate a minimum of five (5) years managerial experience.

In addition to the requirements for domestic students, international students must also provide one of the following:
* UTAS EAP2 with a minimum overall score of 65% and no individual skill below 60%; or
* an IELTS score with an overall Band of 6.5 and no band less than 6; or
* a TOEFL (iBT) overall score of 88 (no individual skill must be lower than: Reading 16; Listening 16; Speaking 18; and, Writing 22) or
* a PTE Academic overall score of 58 with no score lower than 50, or
* UTAS also accepts approved Prior Studies in English (https://www.utas.edu.au/international/applying/entry-requirements/english-language-requirements)

All methods of meeting University of Tasmania English language requirements have a validity period of 2 years unless involving a country specific qualification.
