About this scholarship

Outline

The Juris Doctor (JD) Equity Scholarship was established to assist students from disadvantaged backgrounds to undertake the Juris Doctor Program at UNSW.

The Scholarship will be payable for a standard full-time program duration of up to 3 years, subject to the recipient's satisfactory progress over all courses. A normal full-time load for the Juris Doctor program is 24 units of credit per semester.

Two scholarships are available each year, one at the commencement of each semester.

Eligibility

  • Applicants must be Australian Citizens or have been granted Permanent Resident status by 31 October of the year preceding commencement of the Juris Doctor qualification.
  • Applicants must be eligible for entry to the Juris Doctor program prior to applying for the Scholarship.
  • Students must demonstrate financial need.

Selection

Candidates will be considered on the basis of their UAC Equity online application.

Each applicant must be experiencing low socio economic circumstances and will be assessed on their eligibility to demonstrate one or more of the following criteria:

  • Indigenous Australian
  • Long term medical condition/disability or ongoing affects of abuse
  • Carer responsibilities
  • Regional or remote disadvantages
  • Sole parent responsibilities
  • Financial need
