As a student in the Graduate Diploma in Legal Studies, you can choose from almost all subjects available in the Melbourne Law Masters program, allowing you to tailor the diploma to suit your professional aspirations and personal interests.
The Graduate Diploma in Legal Studies is for those who already hold a degree in law and are looking to develop their expertise.
It's ideal for professionals wanting to advance their careers by honing their legal and research skills and becoming a specialist in their area of interest. As a student in the Graduate Diploma in Legal Studies, you'll develop skills in critical analysis and the ability to interpret and transmit your ideas to specialist and non-specialist audiences.
Many students who complete four subjects towards the Graduate Diploma in Legal Studies decide to take four more subjects to complete a Master of Laws.
Applications are accepted throughout the year.

Intake periodsThe majority of students will start in either the Semester 1 (start year) or Semester 2 (mid year) intake:

For students wishing to begin study outside of the normal intake periods (e.g. A Winter intensive subject) - find your first subject's starting date in the Handbook, then find the name of the intake period you should apply for below.

Applicants are advised to apply at least a month prior to the start of the subject.
Note:
1. Students will need to ensure their desired subject hasn't yet reached its quota limit - view class quotas on the MLM enrolment status page.
2. 2021 subjects will be released in November 2020.
Once we receive the completed application, we aim to have a response to you within four to six weeks.
