Doctorate (PhD)
The Doctor of Education is a research doctorate for experienced professionals with educational responsibilities. Carefully designed to build the knowledge and skills necessary for research at the doctoral level through a tailored coursework program, the course enables experienced educators to design and carry out research projects that have direct relevance to their professional role.
The Doctor of Education thesis evidences your authority and command of knowledge in relevant fields in an international context. The work shows that you have a thorough grasp of the appropriate methodological techniques, and an awareness of their limitations.
As a doctoral candidate at the University of Melbourne, you will demonstrate academic leadership, increasing independence, creativity and innovation in your research work.
Your thesis makes a distinct contribution to knowledge. Its contribution to knowledge rests on originality of approach and/or interpretation of the findings and, in some cases, the discovery of new facts.
There are two selection rounds each year for entry to the Doctor of Education. All applications must be submitted and complete by the closing dates below to be considered for each round.
