The Graduate Diploma in Business (Financial Planning) is FASEA-approved - a comprehensive qualification that adheres to the revised education, training and ethical standards that FASEA has laid out for existing and future financial planning professionals. The program is part of the QUT Business School's Triple Crown accreditation and is also accredited with financial planning industry body the Financial Planning Education Council (part of Financial Planning Australia).

If you have a passion for helping people and businesses achieve their financial goals and are wanting to be a Financial adviser in the future, or if you are an existing adviser wishing to upgrade your current educational qualifications then this program could be a good choice for you to become FASEA qualified.

Our Graduate Diploma of Business (Financial Planning) will equip you with the knowledge you need to lead the industry as a professional financial adviser. You will acquire the skills to present comprehensive financial solutions confidently to clients and other financial planning professionals.

As a financial planning graduate, you will stand out from the crowd when taking the next step in your career. With the learning outcomes of critical thinking, information literacy skills, specialised technical and creative skills and client management, you will be fully prepared to approach complex and unpredictable financial decisions holistically.

As a student of this degree you will also be able to be affiliated with the FPA at no charge, gaining valuable access to career development activities and resources of the FPA.

Shorter bridging course options (FASEA-approved) are also available, both for existing advisers with an approved degree and for advisers with a relevant degree qualification. Entry requirements

You can gain entry into the Graduate Diploma in Business (Financial Planning) with the following:

  • a completed recognised bachelor degree (or higher qualification) in any discipline with a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 4.0; or
  • a completed recognised advanced diploma or associate degree in any discipline with a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 4.0 and five years full-time (or equivalent) relevant professional work experience; or
  • a completed recognised diploma in any discipline with a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 4.0 and six years full-time (or equivalent) relevant professional work experience; or
  • seven years full time (or equivalent) relevant professional work experience.

Additionally these options may also be available to you:

  • Advanced standing: Advanced standing may also be available to students who have studied a related postgraduate program with another institution within the last five years.
  • Recognition of prior learning: Your work experience in a related field may also be considered for recognition of prior learning.

This course is not available to international students.
