You will graduate from this degree as a specialist nurse, qualified to provide leadership in advanced clinical, management, research and academic aspects of the provision of health services. You will possess a unique blend of abilities stemming from clinical experience, rigorous intellectual development and participation in the study of issues significant to nursing. The Professional Doctorate degree is a higher degree by research with supporting coursework. The research component requires you to pursue an independent and sustained investigation into a research problem of your own design that will culminate in the submission of a thesis for examination. Upon completion of your candidature you must demonstrate through your thesis that you have developed a substantial body of knowledge at the frontier of your field of work or learning, including knowledge that constitutes an original contribution to your profession.
