Our online, FASEA-approved Graduate Diploma of Financial Planning is an eight-subject postgraduate qualification set at AQF level 8, which comprises of the first eight subjects of Kaplan Professional’s FASEA-approved Master of Financial Planning.
The course is designed and developed in conjunction with leading advisers and industry experts to ensure what you learn is practical, relevant and immediately transferable to your practice. You’ll build on the skills you’ve already developed and broadened your technical knowledge in investment, taxation, estate and succession planning, and client engagement skills.
FASEA has announced that from 1 January 2019, the maximum educational requirement for an existing adviser is an approved graduate diploma (AQF8) comprising of eight subjects to be completed by 1 January 2024.
Individuals who successfully complete the Graduate Diploma of Financial Planning will meet the entry requirement for the Certified Financial Planner® (CFP®) designation offered by the Financial Planning Association of Australia (FPA).

Alternative entry pathways may be available to you if you do not meet the minimum education requirements. In addition, other entry requirements, such as English language proficiency, may apply to you depending on your academic background.
The qualifications listed as minimum education requirements must be from a recognised Higher Education provider (including the National Office of Overseas Skills Recognition).
Understand the key economic principles and financial market concepts in the context of financial planning. You'll be able to formulate appropriate solutions based on the comparison of portfolios and strategies for clients, including those with specialised needs.
You'll learn how to propose appropriate business and tax structures for a variety of clients’ circumstances
Integrate relevant legislation, regulations, codes of practice and ethical behaviour, as well as all competencies required, in the financial planning process.
Once done, you'll be able to Integrate appropriate verbal and written communication, negotiation and client relationship building skills in client interactions.

Advanced Standing is recognition of prior learning (RPL) in terms of your experience and/or studies. When you apply for Advanced Standing, we will assess your prior learning and may award you credit in the course in which you are currently studying in recognition of what you have achieved. The granting of credit results in the reduction of the amount of learning required to achieve your qualification. We recognise various types of prior learning towards Kaplan postgraduate courses:

1. Check entry requirements
Each Kaplan Professional postgraduate qualification has minimum entry requirements. Please ensure you meet the eligibility requirements required to enrol.
In order to complete your studies with Kaplan Professional, you are assumed to have the following skills and access relating to technology.

You may be able to obtain advanced standing for Kaplan Professional subject based on your previous study, professional membership status and work experience.
3. Choose a subject
All financial planning subjects are available every study period. Check the subject outline to understand the hours of commitment and prerequisites.
Make sure you check the assessment timetable to ensure you are available to sit the assessment pieces.
You only pay fees for subject(s) in which you enrol each study period. Check the fee schedule for more information about fees.
You can enrol now and supply documentation to support your application for enrolment at a later date, within three weeks of your initial enrolment into the qualification. On enrolment, new postgraduate students will be required to post an original certified copy of their previous studies. If you are paying by cheque, utilising a deferral or have a preferred client code you will need to download a copy of our paper-based enrolment form.
