Attain a postgraduate qualification in SMSF and a professional designation.

Kaplan Professional, in association with the SMSF Association, is offering the Graduate Certificate in Self Managed Superannuation Funds. This new qualification provides you with specialist technical knowledge and critical skills necessary to efficiently and compliantly manage SMSFs for a range of clients.

By exploring behavioural finance to gain insights into investment decision-making, you will develop specialist knowledge and demonstrate best practice when guiding SMSF trustees through the various stages of the lifecycle of an SMSF. With the ability to select an elective relevant to your area of expertise, this unique qualification develops critical thinking, problem solving and communications skills in the complex and dynamic SMSF sector.

Some applicants may need to meet ASIC requirements for RG 146 in Superannuation and Self Managed Superannuation Funds. Please check the entry requirements for more information.

Entry requirements

Applications musts demonstrate that they meet ASIC requirements for RG 146 in all of the following Tier 1 areas:

  • Financial Planning (Personal or General Advice)
  • Life Insureance (Personal or General Advice)
  • Superannuation (Personal or General Advice)
  • Managed Investments (Personal or General Advice)
  • Securities (Personal or General Advice)
  • Self Managed Superannuation Funds

PLUS one (1) of the following criteria:

  • Entry Criteria A
    • A relevant pastgraduate degree, or
    • A relevant umdergraduate degree, or
    • A related Advanced Diploma plus two (2) years related industry experience
  • Entry Criteria B 
    • An unrelated postgraduate degree or undergraduated degree plus two (2) years related industry experience, or 
    • An unrelated Advanced Diploma plus five (5)
    •  years related industry experience
  • Entry Criteria C 

Academic and?or professional qualifications demostrating potential to undertake study at this level

Relevant degree

 A relevant degree includes Accounting,Actuarial studies,Commerce,Emonomics,Finance and financial management.

Related industry experience

Related industry experience must include provision of Tier 1 financial advice.

How to apply

1. Check entry requirements

Each Kaplan Professional postgraduate qualification has minimum entry requirements. Please ensure you meet the eligibility requirements required to enrol. 

In order to complete your studies  with Kaplan Professional, you are assumed to have the following skills and access relating to technology. 

2. Check for possible exemptions

You may be able to obtain advanced standing for Kaplan Professional subject based on your previous study, professional membership status and work experience. 

3. Choose a subject

Not all subjects are available in every study period so make sure you check your preferred subject is offered. Check the subject outline to understand the hours of commitment and prerequisites.

4. Enrol

You only pay fees for subject(s) in which you enrol each study period. Check the fee schedule for more information about fees.

You can enrol now and supply documentation to support your application for enrolment at a later date, within three weeks of your initial enrolment into the qualification.  On enrolment, new postgraduate students will be required to post an original certified copy of their previous studies.  If you are paying by cheque, utilising a deferral or have a preferred client code you will need to download a copy of our paper-based enrolment form.
