The Graduate Certificate in Education (Vision Impairment) is designed for practicing teachers, school leaders and advisory personnel who work with students with vision impairment, those who have a general interest in developing their knowledge in this area and those who aspire to enter this specialisation. The course aims to develop a critical awareness of the nature of vision impairment and the impact of loss of vision on development, learning and social/emotional well being. Functional perspectives relating to access to the curriculum, inclusion, Braille, orientation and mobility and approaches to teaching and learning will be considered in some depth.
